Stunning Mid-Century 12.5" Round PlatterHORNSEA CONCEPT Swan Lake Grey Pattern DesignEngland Excellent Condition The Concept range of tableware was released in 1977 (and immediately won a British Design Council Award). What marks this design out is the combination of glazed and unglazed surfaces on each piece, using a special unglazed stoneware body which Hornsea called Vitramic. This gave an added tactile feel to the already interesting surface design of molded radiating circles. On most pieces the inside is glazed, with just the center circle glazed, the rest left matte. The design was by Martin Hunt and David Queensberry Following the first biscuit colored range it was issued in pink, grey and cream colors. The shape was then reissued under the name Swan Lake. This platter is Swan Lake Grey.Swan Lake Concept patterns were produced from 1982 till 1992. Hornsea Swan 12-1/2-in.
