Description: A 15th or 16th century vellum leaf from a Book of Hours. Published by either by Philippe Pigouchet or Simon Vostre. Beautiful decorative border. Text in Latin. The leaf measures approx 7.25” x 4 3/8”. It is matted to show one side for display. The matting measures approx 13.75” x 10”. Some slight discoloration, else in very good condition. Philippe Pigouchet was a prominent French printer and publisher who worked in Paris during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. He is best known for his collaboration with the famous printer Antoine Vérard. Pigouchet is credited with producing numerous beautifully illustrated books, including religious texts, literary works, and legal publications. His editions were highly regarded for their quality of printing and ornate woodcut illustrations.Simon Vostre was another significant figure in the world of French printing during the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
