Description: 1856-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar Repunched Date FS-301, WB-102 (Not on slab) PCGS XF40Very sharp, very lustrous, and clean. Looks close to AU! Perhaps some mottled toning may have been factored in. Actually, the splotches of olive green tan color blend nicely with quite a bit of icy blue and honey orange patina, seen when held in the light. An important variety, easily the strongest of several RPDs known for 1856-O. The first date was punched at a sharp angle, causing the original 1 to show below the primary 1, and the original 56 to show far above the primary 56. The 8 must have been the pivot point.
