Description: 1862 Type 3 gold Dollar, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by PCGS as Almost Uncirculated, AU-55, with exceptional lustre for this grade and unusually high reflectivity. This Civil War-era specimen of the gold dollar series has rich, orange-golden lustre, and little wear, making it an excellent Choice AU - and an excellent choice for acquiring! This coin is of the third and final (Type 3) design; this time with no die clash marks that you often see in gold dollars. For an AU55 coin, this gold dollar reflects so well that it may have been "prooflike" when it was uncirculated. Graded with the PCGS surety and Gold Shield, this coin is problem-free; on the reverse, the wreaths have a pink tone that can be seen with a magnifying glass or loupe. This is an AU-55 coin, but a premium specimen given its features and history. Being of the wartime 1860s era for gold dollars, the light wear may well have been from initial circulation from the Mint to banks to a couple of owners, before it got tucked away as coins disappeared from circulation as the war dragged on beyond what was expected. Enjoy looking it over and considering to purchase! Shipped with signature tracking for your added assurance.
