Cloth boards are scuffed at edges & worn at corners. Head and tail of spine lacking - binding exposed. Gilt lettering on front board bright and clean. Gilt lettering on spine slightly dulled. All edges painted red. Blind stamp found at bottom corner of front end-page: The Blasberg Collection. The same blind stamp is also found on title page. Light toning throughout text-block, some instances of finger-soiling and age-staining (especially to tissue guards). Binding is broken between p 112 and p 113. A loose signature (p 97-112) before broken binding. No known previous ownership or marginalia. All wall-paper samples intact, clean & bright - present well. Binding broken. Please see photos and ask questions, if any, before purchasing. Charles Locke Eastlake (1836-1906) was a British architect and furniture designer. The style of furniture named after him, Eastlake style, flourished during the later half of the nineteenth century. The Eastlake movement, a style of architecture, with old English and Gothic elements, was named after him. He did not make any furniture; his designs were produced by professional cabinet makers. He originally published Hints on Household Taste in Furniture, Upholstery, and other Details in 1868, which was extremely influential in Britain, & then later in the United States.
