Description: This is an antique milkglass covered mustard dish that was made around 1899 for the Flaccus Brothers Co of Wheeling, W.Virginia...it has no embossing or label, but is shaped like a battleship with Uncle Sam riding on the lid.....4 1/4"tall x 6 3/4"long....opaque white milkglass....Excellent shiny nice condition with only a tiny nick on edge of base rim; a small open bubble chip on top of Uncle Sam's hat; no other damage. Shiny clean with no stain. I've had a couple of these that had their original label which stated that it contained Prepared Mustard by Flaccus Brothers of Wheeling,W.Va. It was a patriotic support of the Spanish American War which began in 1898 with the explosion of the battleship Maine in Havana Harbor. This battleship mustard dish is often emb Remember The Maine..
