Description: Very nice, BU example of the Robinson / Arkansas commemorative half dollar issued in 1936. Joseph T. Robinson was the US Senator from the state of Arkansas at the time this coin was issued, making it one of only five coins ever issued by the United States to feature the portrait of a living person. The other coins were also all commemoratives: (1) the 1921 Alabama centennial commemorative half dollar featured a portrait of T.E. Kilby, Governor of Alabama; (2) the 1926 Sesquicentennial of US Independence commemorative half dollar featured a portrait of the President, Calvin Coolidge; (3) the 1936 Lynchburg half dollar featured a portrait of VIriginia's US Senator, Carter Glass; and (4) the 1996 Special Olympics silver dollar featured a portrait of Eunice Kennedy Shriver. That puts this coin into pretty rarified territory! The present example is uncertified, but brilliant uncirculated and will come to you in a 2x2 mylar / card flip, as shown in the photographs above. The photographs depict the actual coin you will receive. Thank you for looking! We have a lot of other nice coins for sale, be sure to have a look!
