The cover is franked with Greece Scott #519, the 1800 drachma Protective Mother stamp from 1949. The stamp is tied to the cover by an Athens roller cancel dated August 8, 1949. There is government tape on one end: "CONTROLE DU CHANGE" and "ΕΛΕΓΧΟΣ ΣΥΝΑΛΛΑΓΜΑΤΟΣ". A violet hand stamp on the reverse: "ΠΡΟΣΤΑΣΙΑΖ ΕΘΝΚΟΥ ΗΘΜΙΣ - ΑΘΗΝΑΙ -" rough translation: ("PROTECTION OF NATIONAL HERITAGE - ATHENS -"). This cover measures 165mm x 113mm.
