Description: I found these at a local estate auction with antique baby and children's clothes. They are most unusual: 2 camisole-type tops for a toddler or young child. They are both made of soft cotton lawn, slightly sheer; one is white and the other a pale orange. Both have ribbons at the shoulders. The orange one has an open center back with two ribbon ties for closure and is cut straight across the top to fit under the arms, as was the 1920s fashion. The top has a narrow band of white lace all around, and there are shoulder straps of the same orange ribbon. At the center front there is a small embroidery as shown. This measures 9.5" across when lying flat and is 9" long from the underarms; the shoulder straps are 3.5" long giving it a total length of 11.5." This has fine details like laddering all around the hem and back opening. The white one is the same size, 9.5" across the front lying flat. This one has partial shoulder straps with picot edging front and back, and a fancy inset of drawnwork and embroidery at the center front V. It would slip over the head and has white ribbon ties for the shoulders, but they are barely hanging on and need to be replaced. I believe the embroidery and drawnwork was done by hand. This also has laddering along the bottom. These are soooo pretty! I have laundered and pressed them to make sure the fabric was sound; it is soft and sturdy and not brittle. These are ready to wear or incorporate into toddler wear, or adapt as bodices for special garments or even doll clothes. I've never seen any like this - wouldn't they be lovely for photos?
