The EJA is one of the rarest Jumeau models to find because in 1879, this model was marketed as “deluxe” and was sold at a significantly higher price than other Jumeau Bebes. It was also only manufactured for a brief period. This is an especially fine example with a wonderful couturier dress and the rare earliest signed Jumeau shoes! The photos do not do her justice! She is much more beautiful in person. This 26” E.J.A. 10, is an extremely rare and very beautiful Jumeau Bebe, wearing an elaborate antique couturier dress with early signed Jumeau shoes! Her bisque head has no damage. The modeling and decoration of the bisque is exceptional. She has beautiful amber-brown spiral threaded paperweight eyes. Her body is the earliest (and very desirable) body with the loose 8-ball joints, straight wrists, and the early larger hands. She wears a fabulous early antique couturier dress that is wonderful in its detail and luxuriousness. She has antique stockings and original early E.Jumeau signed shoes. Her bonnet is a beautiful lace bonnet. She has been extremely well cared for and cherished for approximately 145 years. Think about that...145 years! She is ready to put into the very finest of collections! Description: 26” E.J.A., Size #10, featuring a pressed bisque socket head with superb quality to the modeling and decoration of the bisque, stunning bulbous amber-brown paperweight eyes, feathered eyebrows, finely painted upper and lower eyelashes, “dot” accents at the inside corners of the eyes, mauve eyeshadow on the upper eyelids, shaded and accented nostrils, closed mouth, shaded and accented lips, antique mohair wig over cork pate, and on the original signed Jumeau wood and composition body with straight wrists and large hands. She has a lovely early face which is found only on the EJA model. The bisque head has no damage. The EJA was advertised as a "deluxe" model and was sold at a signficantly more expensive price than other Jumeau dolls of the same period. The EJA was also only sold for a brief period of about 1-2 years or so. Because of this, the EJA models are extremely rare to find today. This doll is dressed in superb couturier attire! She wears a fabulous early antique couturier dress. The dress was made with amazing detail and is in overall superb condition; I think someone may have added lace pleating underneath the bottom ruffle of the dress to make it stand out slightly. She has antique stockings and original early E.Jumeau signed shoes with rosettes--it is very hard to find these earliest shoes! Her bonnet is a beautiful lace bonnet. Condition: Please see photos. She is selling as you see her photographed. The quality of the bisque is superb with excellent modeling detail to the early pressed bisque head and very delicate facial decoration. I have lighted and black-lighted the bisque head and there is no damage to the bisque head. The bisque is early pressed bisque and has the typical pressed mold/manufacturing marks on the inside which are not damage. The body is in overall excellent condition and is signed on the buttocks. All elements of the costume are in overall excellent condition. The shoes are in overall excellent condition as photographed; the stitching on the back seam is coming apart on one shoe. We would be happy to provide additional photos upon request. Marks: “EJ A 10” (incised on back of head). “JUMEAU MEDAILLE D’OR PARIS” (blue stamp on back of body). “12 E. Jumeau Med. D’OR 1878 PARIS” (incised on sole shoes). Circa: 1879, lovely early EJA model with very refined facial features, the earliest spiral threaded eyes, and the very desirable earliest 8-ball body with plump lower limbs/hands.
