Description: Penn Antique Restoration Vintage "Drexel" Wood & Fabric Armchair * The color of the chair depends on your lighting. Some photos were taken inside under florescent and some were taken outside around sunset to give you a better idea. Gorgeous, vintage armchair made by, "Drexel," of Thomasville, NC (see last photo). It's made of solid, walnut wood and has a fabric upholstered seat. The seat is loose and not secure to the chair. We didn't add screws to secure it because the fabric is not original and has stains (see close up photo). Whoever buys the chair will either clean the fabric or reupholster the seat, so we figured this will make it easier to do so. The chair is decorated from top to bottom. The top of the chair has a beautiful arched form, decorated with a lovely appliqué. The backrest has a fiddle shaped piece in the middle flanked by 2 turned spindles. The arms stretch forth from the backrest, slightly flared to the sides, and the ends curve to perfectly accommodate one's hands at rest. The front legs have several bulbous decorations and the front rail under the seat is scalloped.Considering that the chair is 60 - 80 years old, it's in great condition. Our carpenter thoroughly inspected the piece and found no repairs to make, nor anything to reinforce. It has tiny nicks, light scratches, and spots of worn stain and finish (mostly around the bottom of the front feet). The fabric is free of rips or tears, but do have a couple of small stains which look like they could be removed with a good cleaning.This chair is strong, sturdy, and ready for a lifetime of service!
