In containers, desert rose is best grown in a loose, sandy or gravelly, well-drained soil mix in full sun. The sap of Adenium contains toxic cardiac glycosides and is toxic to people and pets. Adenium Arabicum "Brazilian" - a fast growing species characterized by abundant flowering, Color of flowers - pink. Representatives of this species retain leaves all year, but vegetate only in warm weather. They grow very fast (both in height & width) and begin leafing out / self branching as early as age 2 weeks! Soak seeds overnight in water. Prepare a base of sand in a 2-3 inch deep container with drainage holes and add a 1/2 inch layer of cactus medium on top. Mix a small amount of antifungal powder in water and soak the medium until it drains out the bottom. Sow seed 2 inches apart and cover with cactus medium. Cover the container and place in the dark. Germination should occur in 5-7 days. Place in bright light. A sunny window is better than grow lights. Transplant into individual containers when seedlings have 2 sets of true leaves. I use 2 parts sand and 1 part coco peat, with slow release fertilizer added.
