Description: This vessel came to us from a collector's estate. After inconclusive consults concerning its origin, we have decided that a wide range of possible dates is appropriate. We believe it was made between 800 A.D. and 1300 A.D. in Cambodia where it might have been a storage vessel for honey. The vessel is about 2.15" wide and roughly 2.5" tall at its bulbous center. During the date range in question, Cambodia was home to an empire. At its height, the Khmer (or Angkorian) Empire was more extensive than the Byzantine Empire. Please note that we do not import or export ancient items. Additionally, our items typically come from people and businesses that we know and trust. We tend to avoid buying from unknown sources or individuals because we cannot guarantee that they have obtained their inventory through legitimate and ethical means. Our listings are researched prior to posting and our descriptions are informed by our own knowledge and experience as well as by the vendors from which we obtain our inventory. Thus, our titles and descriptions are our opinions as to the nature and history of the object for sale. These expressed opinions should not be treated as a statement of fact. Buyers should seek further information where inclined. We welcome discussions about concerns or questions PRIOR to purchase.
