Description: Anthony A. Ferrara (1930-2012) 1963 Expressionist Watercolor of Sitting Man Figure Study. Measures 20" by 26" unframed. Excellent Condition showing no damage. Anthony A. Ferrara (1930-2012) was a Philadelphia artist who graduated from the Tyler School of Art in 1963, and later studied with Ben Eisenstat at Fleisher Art Memorial. He is perhaps best known for his cityscapes of Philadelphia, but he also painted many expressionist portraits and nudes in his gritty, urban and distinctive style. Ferrara's oil paintings typically sell in the $350 to $750 range, his watercolors for a bit less. This artist only recently died (2012), and he has been gaining in popularity as time goes by. I was able to acquire a number of pieces by Ferrarra for a good price, so I am offering this work at a very fair value. This particular portrait is typical of his work, and presents a great opportunity to own a distinctive piece by an up and coming premium artist for a small investment.
