Description: Antique Vintage Blackhawk Ginger Ale Label made by Carse & Ohlweilwer Company out of Rock Island, Illinois3 1/4" x 2 1/2" ~This is the rarer smaller version 5.5 OZ bottle. What an odd size. These are very highly collectible and absolutely beautiful! A lot of these are sold out there as posters and prints for $100's of dollars. I prefer the real antique as that only increases in value. This company opened its doors in 1873 and made its brand “Blackhawk” after the famous warrior and Chief Black Hawk, of the Sauk tribe of Illinois. They were a very popular regional brand and even had amazing cider from what I hear. Too bad they have been gone for over 80 years or I would try some! Neat to think the Chicago Blackhawks also started in 1926 in honor of this famous Native American. He is one of the most famous Native American Indian Chiefs ever. He even has a war named after him the Blackhawk War of 1832 and was captured soon after and was paraded around the country as a novelty. He told his story to an autobiographer and it became one of the most influential books of the era and was an immediate bestseller. It is read even to this day after going through many revisions and reprints. Imagine hanging this antique advertising on your wall as home decor in any room! This is a full antique.
