Based on the line stained around the edges of the painting, and the chips on the edge of the board, this was framed at some point. The signature is hard to read, but I'm pretty sure it says 24, for 1924. The back has a label from the company that made the board. The label has a name of Ed. Schaefer, but the painting signature does not look like that. The painting surface has craquelure, and the board is slightly wavy and has stains on the back.
