Description: This "Antique" children's / large doll spindle made rocking chair with arm rests is very old and has a story to it ! The owner , a close friend has told me that this was his grand mother's , grandmother's rocking chair ! I his grand mother was alive , she would be 108 years old God rest her soul !! So if this was her grandmothers chair , wouldn't another 108 years be added to this rocker making it made in around 1805 ? Her family originated in England , but is unknown if this was a private maker or a factory maker for those times ! Made of what looks like identifiable oak wood , a hardwood as it is kind of heavy in weight . The story goes ... his grand mother , who lived in a trailer park (a far cry of what is considered "white trash" today) , she was poor and decided to paint this rocker with the trailer paint , blue in color about 70 + years or so ago . His dad was gifted the chair and he stripped the chair as best he could . According to my friend (he is 63 now) , when he was a toddler , he remembered a cushion featuring 3 little kittens sewn in through the chair to what looks like holes purposely created there for chairs that have "caning" for seats ! Since the cushion is long gone by now , the chair has been "un-assembling" itself through the years !! There are no cracks in the rocker , the separation area's are how the chair was made to start ! A restorer of very old and antique furniture would have a field day restoring this one ! The blue paint that remains is removable , but I didn't want to chance possibly ruining it ! Imagine if it is 216 years old , that's 29 years after this land of USA formed !! The approximate dimensions of this rocking chair are 30" high x 23" long x 15" wide and is very sturdily made although separating at the connection area's !!
