Description: This antique two-tiered Chinese lacquered bamboo and woven rattan nesting wedding basket, features one large removable stacking tray with lid and one stationary tray. It has lovely side handle carvings of dragons and flowers with brass embellishments. This would be a unique gift for any bride, or just a lovely and uniques decor item in your home. Wedding baskets such as this were used by a bride's family on her wedding day, filled with fine things to accompany her to her new home. The baskets were also used often for picnics or for carrying food to family gatherings. This basket measures approximately 16.5” in height (to the top of the handle), 12" in depth and 12" in width. It is in extremely good condition considering its age, however it is missing 3 of the brass "rivets" which are purely decorative and in no way harms the structure of the item.There are some areas where the lacquered finish has been scratched and the top of the woven lid is a bit dusty.
