Description: Selling this Antique Chinese Gilded Sterling Silver With Enamel ornamentation Tea Caddy. Made in China for the Western market. I believe it to be circa 1900-1940. It is a great example of the legendary Chinese Filigree workmanship. In very GOOD condition, no dents or loss of enamel. There are 2 areas on the marbled looking skin that look to have a scratch-see pictures. Marked SILVER on the bottom. I assume it is 950 silver. I took this caddy to a coin shop where it was placed into a machine to check for the silver content and was told it registered 90% on the middle of the bottom of the caddy. He said without scratching it or damaging it he couldn't tell me anymore about it. Weight is one pound. Height is 5" tall to tip of finial. It also measures 3 1/2" wide, and 3 1/2" tall without the lid. It was given to me by the son of the owner of the piece who had passed away. I believe he said he bought it for her when he was working in China.
