This 2023 special edition proof set continues the tradition presenting the highest quality coins of each denomination issued in the standard base metal composition with a frosted cameo finish, together with a large format dollar coin struck in fine silver. Mintage is limited to 12,500. This set will also be highly sought after as the final issue to feature the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Since the new King Charles II dies were not ready at the time of issue, the Royal Canadian Mint decided to issue this set with a posthumous effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with an added double date of 1952-2022 marking her reign. Interestingly, the Royal Canadian Mint has stated that it will not be issuing 2023 circulation coins with Queen Elizabeth on them but will be waiting to issue circulation coins featuring King Charles. This makes every Queen Elizabeth coin in this set much more interesting and collectible. Silver Dollar Design Kit Coleman was one of Canada’s most successful early presswomen. A pioneer of Canadian journalism, Coleman made history by becoming North America’s first accredited woman war correspondent. She also helped establish the Canadian Women’s Press Club in 1904 and served as its first president, and later became Canada’s first syndicated woman columnist.
