Description: Most Rare, 2", Two Pound Spherical Lead Ball I believe it a Woodruff cannon ball. James Woodruff designed his 2", 256 pound gun, at the outbreak of the war . The pieces were subsequently issued to several Illinois and Iowa cavalry regiments, saw limited use, and were generally deemed ineffective. The ball exhibits aging, with a number of small dents. A rare opportunity to acquire a nearly non-existent Civil War artillery projectile. This auction is for the lead cannonball only! No Sabot or cannon. The last two pictures are for display only! I personally found this in Winchester Virginia many years ago up on a hill metal detecting. Please feel free to ask any questions.
