Description: Carolina Desert Chicory Pyrrhopappus Carolinianus Beautiful Yellow flowers popped up all over usually about a month after we have cleared with the tractor. Papa took a photo and the phone app said 'Goats Beard'. Later we found it's name is actually Carolina Desert Chicory and despite the name, it's a Florida Native Flower! Well, we admired it and enjoyed out Goats Beard for quite some time until the little patch multiplied all over the farm! Little seed heads similar to dandelions would 'poof' and send seeds in every direction. We haven't tried eating them, but some folks say it's similar to dandelion. The young tender leaves are used in salads while older, harder leaves are boiled as greens. One lady mentioned the stalks can be boiled and eaten like spaghetti! There are SO many medicinal benefits to it too. We definitely have some experimenting to do!! So, this year we have collected some seeds to offer for sale! We hope you all enjoy this 'Goats Beard' like we have!!
