There isn’t much historical information about His worship but He is often seen with stags, serpents, wolves…and other wild creatures…since wild animals are associated with Him. He is thought to be God of the Sun and Lord of the Hunt…being both Hunter and Hunted. His sacred places are the wild places in Nature. In modern practice, He is often thought to be associated with the Triple Goddess…and often He is seen to embody male sexuality in all its power. He is Youth, Father and Sage. In one version of the “Charge of the God”, He proclaims, “See in the yearly festivals, my birth, death and rebirth…and know that such is the destiny of all creatures.” He is seen as the Life in Nature that forever is in cycle with The Goddess. In agricultural myths, She is the fertile ground of Being that receives the seeds from the dying crops so that they may be reborn the following year. We are pleased to offer this Talisman, handmade lovingly by Witch Joseph during Samhaintide 2024. On this Talisman, Cernunnos is seen seated with a wolf and a deer in the background…and He is holding a Serpent and a Torque (a Celtic Neck ornament denoting position and status)…the Talisman is strung with 8mm black beads, 6mm steel accent beads, 6mm Carnelian beads (associated with the Cernunnos in His fiery aspects and solar associations) and 6mm Aventurine beads (associated with His Nature aspects)…all completed with the Pendant which is a Vintage Silver Alloy Round measuring 38 mm in diameter…The coin is made of Silver Plated Brass. The Talisman is perfect for a ritual/ceremonial piece…or everyday…and is approximately 26 inches long with a stainless steel rotating lobster clasp.
