Description: This is a map set which shows where some of the homeowners lived in the Town of New Castle, Chappaqua, Glendale and Millwood, Westchester County, New York in 1911. (plate 30) These maps were reproduced on fine natural color parchment and each map shows a different section of New Castle. They're 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame or can be matted to fit a larger museum quality mat. The pictures provided show portions of the actual maps! Please contact for more information! Contained on the maps are finely detailed locations of the homes, lots and estates for this time period. The map set is actually one map scene yet is split into two to show in better detail both the East-West parts or sections of New Castle. Due to the limited size of my scanner bed, the pictures don't show the entire size of the actual maps. Some of the villages or areas shown are Chappaqua, Conklin Corners, Perry Heights, Tompkins Corners, Millwood and Glendale. Please note that although many surnames are present, many of the more heavily populated sections and the undeveloped areas won't show them. Many of the streets at that time are also named. Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Murray, Smith, Williamson, Barnum, Bishop, Woolf, Graff, Miller, Meyer, Taylor, Lannay, Malvin, Mannion, Moriarty and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the maps are schools, named streets, cemeteries, some businesses, railroads and rivers/streams. Some of the popular sites on this map set which possibly didn't exist in 1911 are Whipporwill Club and Park, Mount Kisco Country Club, Echo Lake Park, Oakwood cemetery, Gedney Park, Teatown Lake Reservation, Hudson Hills Golf Course and much more. It's interesting to see what the land looked like before mass habitation. It would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors! Multiple purchases can be combined for one shipping charge!
