Deadpool writer GERRY DUGGAN and artist JOHN MCCREA's Dead Rabbit series was off to a great start in 2018 when Image Comics suddenly issued a recall of its first two issues, bringing the title to an early end. While no explanation was given at the time, the recall came from a "cease-and-desist" letter the publisher received from an Irish-themed New York City bar named The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog. The bar, which publishes its cocktail/drink menu as a comic book, had previously filed trademark registrations for the "Dead Rabbit" name and thus threatened to sue Image, Diamond Comics Distributors and even local comic book shops if the title was allowed to continue. Needless to say, copies of the book were immediately recalled and the title suspended. Changes were made, and the series was re-launched as Dead Eyes in 2019, after all traces and references to "Dead Rabbit" were removed from its covers and content.
