Description: Fresh Seeds from Hibiscus mutabilis Confederate Rose Double, also known as Cotton Rose, Dixie rosemallow, cotton rosemallow. Fast-growing, Hibiscus mutabilis (Confederate Rose) is a large spreading shrub or small multi-stemmed tree with huge flowers that make a big impact in the landscape. A unique feature of the confederate rose is its color-changing flowers. this shrubby rose bush has blooms that start as white in the morning, turn to pink at midday, and end the day red. Blooming profusely from late summer through fall, Confederate Rose becomes the glory of the garden. This hibiscus reaches heights of up to 15 feet with spreads of about 10 feet and grows best in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 7 through 11. In zones 7-8, it is likely to be killed to the ground by the first hard freeze, but it will resprout with even more vigor in the following spring. A full sun or part shade lover, this plant is best grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. These plants are also deer-resistant, so continued care is moderate. You will not need extensive pruning. An annual shearing of dead branches to promote new growth should be enough. If your cotton rose bush becomes unsightly, you can cut diseased or dead branches to the ground as fresh sprouts will take their place. *best time for planting is early spring *store seeds in cool place like in the fridge PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS To reduce paper waste, planting instructions are not mailed with the order unless requested, they are provided below.
