Spine with gilt single rules and lettering, and the gilt crested monogram of Mary Hill, Marchioness of Downshire, Baroness Sandys (1774-1836) to the head; red speckled block edges. Condition Sturdy bindings with light to moderate overall wear, which includes light bumps and light wear to lower fore-corner tips. Some spine-fade and bright, clear gilt. Leaves are clear, crisp, and have aged to a light-golden hue. Some leaves also show light water contact staining while some others show light rippling or both, upper corner crease to p149/150 Vol I. Provenance Ombersley Court, Worcestershire with gilt rested monogram of Mary Hill, Marchioness of Downshire, Baroness Sandys (1774-1836) to the spines.
