Description: Custom designed counterweight for the venerable Astroscan vintage telescope. I was sick and tired of having the front of the scope dive down when trying to view objects at low altitudes with heavier eye pieces (or other accessories like a dew shield or camera). I decided to make this custom counterweight to help balance the scope. It's a 3D printed shell using durable PETG in a color that I found matches the Astroscan quite well. I insert a 2" long 1/4-20 hex bolt into the shell, then fill with lead shot and finally top it off with clear epoxy resin and a cap. This encapsulates all the lead shot and creates a durable rock hard counterweight that threads onto the bottom of the Astroscan. The shell is 54mm W x 47mm H (not including the bolt). It works to about 65 before it hits the tabletop surface you're viewing on, more if you're using a tripod with the standard base. Final weight is ~21oz (600g +/- 10g). (I know price is higher than I would like for this but shipping is higher due to the weight, and it's a material and labor-intensive part to make.) See my store for many other Astroscan accessories! Contact for any customization requests or if you have a different project you need 3D printed.
