Description: This is a gorgeous rare wing or bowtie type bannerstone, made of extremely rare calcite in my opinion. COA describes it as quartz crystal, but in my experience I believe it is calcite, almost clear but with a slight yellow tint. As the calcite is transparent you can see the drilling of the holes which makes authenticity obvious. Highly polished smooth. The faces of the barrel are slightly flattened. I have never seen a bannerstone made from this material, only a few birdstones and Hopewell items. Investment piece. Amazing bannerstone, worth several times more than I am asking. Ex John Bishop collection. Found in Ohio. 4 1/2" long, 2 1/8" wide at widest,1" thick at barrel, wings 3/4" thick down to 1/4", hole is 3/8" to 7/16" diameter.
