Description: This dessert plate was manufactured in France during the early part of the 19th century. It was crafted by Choisy le Roi Paillart and Hautin (P&H). The black transferware pattern includes a rebus or riddle meant to entertain guests after dinner. Considering its age, the plate is in very good condition. There may be some minor disturbance to the back of the transfer pattern, scratches from use on the surface and bottom, perhaps a small nick but I did not see my larger than a period when inspecting the plates. Please look at the pictures yourself carefully. I try to respond to all questions. I have several other antique French rebus plates listed. I will combine shipping if multiple are purchased at one time. Please understand it is difficult to balance reasonable shipping cost with appropriate packing for pieces that are fragile. Plate #8
