Titled "Garden of Allah," the cup plate features an intricate Egyptian-inspired design. The design was created by artist George Avila and depicts Egyptians praying on a carpet, a camel, and pyramids. The little insert that accompanies the plate explains that the design was based on the Egyptian designs used by the artists at Mount Washington, Pairpoint, and Smith Brothers. Made in the USA. Vintage Pairpoint Glass lead crystal cup plates are works of art that feature intricate designs and decorative elements not commonly found on modern glass. The artisan created a steel mold with hammer and chisel for each intricate design, and then hand-pressed molten glass into the engraved mold using an antique press. Each cup plate has the artisan's initials and the Pairpoint trademark embedded within the design.
