Description: Welcome to ANTIQUES & MOORE! This listing is for a lovely Georgian Sterling Silver trinket box made by John Shaw, c. 1817. This nice box is unusual in that both the top and bottom are decorated with a raised embossed floral border. Inside the floral border on both the top and bottom is an engraved linear horizontal design with an applied silver medallion in the center of the top. The medallion is monogrammed with faint initials "J K". The interior of the box has been gold washed. The hinge is secure, and the box opens and closes correctly. Marked on the interior lid and interior base with English hallmarks for Birmingham, Sterling, with date code for 1817 and with maker's stamp for John Shaw. Measures 3" long, 1 3/4" wide and 1" deep. Weighs 105 grams. This nice box is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no major flaw and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. There are a couple of very minor no-harm dents on the bottom corners, minor coloration on the interior hinge, some minor wear to the gold washed interior and the monogram is faint. Overall, this beautiful box is in outstanding condition for its age.
