Description: INCREDIBLE Antique Medusa Sconce 5 Candle French Neoclassical Gilt Bronze HEAVY!. Absolutely amazing antique sconce. Fresh out of an impressive antique gilt bronze lighting collection. This thing is HEAVY! It weighs around 30lbs and is 27” long. It couldn’t have been made any better or with any more detail I don’t think. There is one classical element after the next with a gorgeous Medusa as the focal point. The gilding is in a very good state of preserve. There is no marking to be found anywhere unfortunately, or at least I can’t find any. There are holes for crystals, the crystals long gone. As much as I would love to mount this in my home I don’t have anywhere to do so. My storage won’t allow saving it until I do. I imagine this came out of quite the stately home originally. My research shows it’s likely French in origin but that I cannot verify this. I looked at about 1,000 similar sconces in my research and on one hand I can count others I like as much or more than this one. At the widest point from arm to arm it’s 18”. At the point furthest from the wall if mounted it would be 15”. Hoping this piece will find its way to the right home. Shipping ASAP. Thanks Free Boston MA pickup.
