David Lang speaks of the 1945 Trumpet S as the rarest of the three when talking about the normal "knob tail" s, the "micro" s and the "trumpet" s in his book on Mercury dimes. ANACS and NGC both will grade slab 1945 trumpet s dimes and label the slab "Trumpet S". PCGS has not as of yet, got on board with this variety. NGC population lists only a small hand full.
