Description: This exceptional Gustavian bench is a special find. Note the original pale gray painted finish (with blue undertones) with decorative finials and carved bow in teal blue/green. The finials, feet, and decorative carved details of the back are all original.This bench was originally designed to serve as a type of spare bed; note the seat is removable vs. hinged. The bench seat was originally painted a shade of brick red/brown. The painted finish is now worn down to the pine below as a result of generations of use leaving a warm, aged patina.Restored, strong and functional this bench is ready to be used and enjoyed.
