Description: 5 seeds. It is a small shrub or tree, up to 7.5 m high, with thin and sinuous branches. The bark is dark, with a smooth, persistent relief. The foliage is evergreen in its natural habitat, although it behaves as deciduous in more temperate areas. The leaves are petiolate, simple, opposite, ovoid to elliptical, with an entire margin, glabrous, with a mucronate apex, ephemeral stipules and clearly visible aromatic oil glands, between 4 and 6.5 cm long. They are bright, intense green when ripe, showing copper or bronze reflections when they sprout and a reddish hue in winter. The fruit appears and matures quickly, up to three weeks after flowering. It is an oblate berry, with a persistent calyx, up to 4 cm in diameter, with eight clearly visible ribs, which turns from green to orange and deep purple as it matures. The peel is thin and slightly acidic, protecting a red, very juicy pulp, sweet to sub-acid depending on the degree of ripeness, with one spherical seed or two or three flattened ones.
