Description: Rabbit's Foot Fern Cutting - 12 inch long rhizome cuttingSize: One cutting - approximately 12 inch long (although I almost always take a longer cutting)Cultivar: Davallia fejeensis (Rabbit's Foot Fern) Info: This is a species of fern in the family Davalliaceae, commonly referred to as Rabbit's Foot Fern. They are best known for their furry, brown rhizomes, which resembles a rabbit's foot. It is native to the Fiji Islands in Oceania. (to me it more resembles a tarantula spider's leg but I guess that name would scare people some...) Care Instructions:We recommend burying sections while also leaving sections exposed like your weaving it in and out of the top soil of a medium pot. Use a good-quality potting mix that holds moisture well. Make sure the cut end is 1-2 inches into the soil and keep the soil moist at all times until its established. Keep watering it regularly and place it in a window with medium to full sun. These ferns are very hardy and will root well from 6 inch or smaller cuttings with NO ROOTS (that's how I got my first one). Once it has rooted it will send up new fern fronds and away it will go! Please be patient with its as this process can take a few weeks or more. As long as you keep it moist and provide adequate sun it should thrive and overall should be an easy keeper. I always make sure to make extra long cuttings so 12 inches is a extremely conservative estimate, you'll likely get a much longer cutting. Note: Ive been growing these for years indoors since I was given a cutting from one of my friend's plants. They are great for indoor house plants or possibly growing outdoors in the right climate. They will clean your air just like many leafy green house plants while also providing you a beautiful easy to grow indoor fern. Benefits:Great House Plant - EASY TO GROW - I've even gotten them to root from cuttings as short as 1 inch!
