Description: The hallmarks for this Wagner Ware No 8 cast iron skillet indicate this pan was manufactured in the 1920s. There were only three sizes for this series of skillets 7-9, and they are difficult to locate. Wagner Ware cast iron produced before WWII are the finest in quality for that time period. They tend to have very few casting flaws resulting in a smooth polished finish on both the interior and exterior surfaces. The cooking surface has some utensil scores, tiny pin size pits and fine patches of etching from corrosion. These are nearly undetectable as you glide your fingers over a glass smooth surface. Eight sheets of printer paper slipped under the bottom edge stops movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs.Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. This item is from an old collection and was cleaned and seasoned, then stored for many years.
