Description: Rare original circa 1887 cabinet card showing the Spanish Royal Family - Queen Consort / regent Maria Christina of Austria, and her children, princesses Mercedes, Maria Teresa, and the future King Alfonso XIII. Maria was a widow at this point, her husband having died while she was pregnant. It appears she is wearing a dark mourning dress. The handwritten notation on the back is dated 1896, and states that at the time of the writing the young king was ten years old, which helps confirm the c.1887 date of this image.
