Description: Beautiful early silhouette of a man facing left . This is a very early example dating to the end of the 18th century to the early 19th, dating by his hair and clothing, and the style of the silhouette. Hollow-cut profile from cream-toned paper with pen and ink flourishes in detailing the hair at his forehead and the puff of hair delineating his hair tied in a queue at the nape of his neck. A ruffle was also added to his chest depicting his shirtfront. There are two hand-cut oval mats atop the silhouette; one in cream and another in gold. The image is framed in a black oval recessed frame with a brass ring at the top for hanging. The frame measures 5 1/2” wide x 7”tall.
