Description: Up for sale here is this complete replacement lighting set for the Sansui 7070, 8080, and 9090. You will receive: Four (4) snap-in 7v 300ma incandescent fuse lamps (for the tuning dial) Two (2) warm white 8v LED fuse lamps (for the meters)One (1) wired 3mm 6v 70ma incandescent bulb (for the tuning needle)Six (6) wired 5mm warm white LEDs (for the source lights and stereo light)Four (4) 3mm 6v 70ma lights with new grommets (for the watt meters) These are top-quality bulbs, and are the exact same ones I use when I rebuild Sansui gear. These are top-of-the-line lights--I love using them! These are all carefully selected for a reason. The incandescent fuse lamps look the best on the dial--LEDs tend to cause hot spots and make the dial look uneven. The LED fuse lamps look best behind the meters. The original source and stereo lights are an oddball 7v 100ma value and the wired 5mm LEDs are the best way to replace them properly. The wired 3mm incandescent bulb keeps the needle looking original, and goes in easily. The little 3mm bulbs are perfect for the watt meters, and the old grommets will have dried out and cracked by now, so replacing the old grommets is very important. These are all plug-and-play, so no worries about adding resistors or anything. You will need a soldering iron, wire cutters, needlenose pliers, heat-shrink tubing (and something to heat it with), and a Philips screwdriver. This is a moderately complicated job, so it's not for a beginner! Be very careful not to damage the tuning dial cord when you're soldering! If you wrap the dial cord in aluminum foil ahead of time, that will help protect it. Replacing the tuning needle light is a bit difficult--you need to carefully pry open the little metal tabs that hold down the old wire, carefully remove the old bulb from the hole in the needle, put in the new bulb, then close up the metal tabs again. The replacement tuning needle LED wires are a bit shorter than the originals, so you may need to splice the wires, then cover them with either heat-shrink tubing or electrical tape. The original watt meter bulbs have little pieces of plastic sleeve on the wires, which you can reuse for the new bulbs. The watt meters are challenging to access--you'll need to open up the receiver from the front in order to get to them. I would strongly recommend reflowing all the solder joints for the tuning dial fuse lamps, since the solder joints will dry out from the heat causing dead or intermittent lighting.
