Description: SCARE CDV THERMOPLASTIC CASE - WITH TINTYPE OF AN ID'ED WOMAN TAKEN 1868 - Rarely do you ever see this scarce thermoplastic case in such fine condition. The CDV size housing is known in Paul Berg's bible on 19th Century cases as, "3-52G Geometric." The gorgeous case with gold medallions on the exterior holds a wonderful full length tintype of a young woman named, Mattie McGrew taken on September 15th, 1868 at Harry Pounds Gallery. The interior has a stunning and rich purple velvet pillow adjacent to the portrait. Good luck to the next lucky owner. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this case as part of my description. The case is in near mint condition as you will find. The only flaw I can find in the case is a tiny hairline at the clasp area seen in my last listing photo. The case has amazing original condition with gorgeous sheen to the exterior, the hinges remain tight, the clasp system is in fine working order and closes flush. The interior pillow also remains in excellent antique condition. The tintype was beautifully captured, held by the original hardware and retains the handwritten notations on the backside. I will carefully ship this item to the winner by way of USPS Priority Mail. Please feel free to view my other items I have listed in my EBAY STORE!
