Description: Preface - I am not an antiques dealer, so my knowledge here is limited. This is an item that came in an estate sale lot, which was a surprise to me. As such, my ability to answer detailed questions will be limited. What I can do, however, is provide as many pictures as needed to satisfy the potential buyer. Request away! This appears to be a vintage toddy ladle with a George III shilling in the bowl. Very lightweight. No markings to indicate material, but silver seems to be consistent with the other listings for similar items. Handle appears to be baleen and has a small chip to it - see pictures. Weight: 44g Length including handle: 13" Bowl width: 3" Bowl depth: 2 1/8" Bowl height: 0.75" Engraving to front of bowl: MFC 1794 Shilling date is 1787 The handle might have separated from the bowl at some point. There is some pink stuff around where they meet, presumably contact cement? Any questions, ask away. I'll do my best to help.
