For your consideration and for the discriminating collector, a RARE Floral Lithograph "Violets and Such" by well known artist T. Conrad Wood This is an ARTIST’S PROOF (AP). Scroll down – to read difference between ARTIST’S PROOF and limited edition prints. ** The actual paper measures 28 ½” high x 21 1/2” wide Viewing area measures 26” x 18” wide (this lithograph was formerly framed, and the viewing area is the area that was showing through the frame. If you frame this, this is the size to expect showing through your new frame) This is an unframed Lithograph. The pencil markings by the artist on the front lower edges are : Left Middle Right side “AP” “Violets and Such” “ T. Conrad Wood “ This is an Artist’s Proof, and is more valuable than normal limited edition prints since there are fewer made. Also, these do not usually come up for sale, since the artist keeps these, to give away to friends, collector friends, or to museums. Scroll down to read the difference. ** In good to very good vintage condition. The colors on the lithograph are beautiful, deep and stunning. The yellows are bright, the pink/reds are true, and the greens are glorious. The overall print does show some slight very light beige aging. The black paint is very deep and dark. There is some rubbing around and on the artist's signature. There is a random number on the right upper side, and what appears to be very light white paint through it. It is not framed, and shows the light brown lines down the left and right edges, 2” around the borders from former framing.. If you frame it, to a 26” x 18” viewable area, you would not see these edging marks. On the back side, along all the edges is the residue of old dry tape that was removed - see photos 9 to 14. There is some rubbing/abrasion around the artist’s pencil signature on the bottom right corner. There is some random numbers in pencil, along the top right edge, would not be visible if you frame according to the 26" x 18" size I recommend. Printed on very thick fine quality lithograph paper. -------------------------------------------------------- ** Artist Proof Prints When an artist reviews the quality and colour of their limited edition print, they will get a proof in the past artist proofs used to be for the artist only as a test print for their collection. These were never sold and often given as a gift to galleries or museums. Instead of a number, an artist proof would have A/P on them, and there would be fewer quantities available. Usually, artists proofs are only 10-15% of a limited edition series. Limited Edition Prints A limited-edition print is a piece of art that is a copy of the original version. However, unlike other editions, these prints are limited and only are a certain amount of numbers are printed by the artist. A limited-edition print will have a number on to signify where it stands in the edition and how many in that edition exist.
