Description: THE HISTORY OF NETTLEHAM, LINCOLNSHIRE, BY FLORENCE L. BAKER. Originally published by Caldicotts, Gainsborough in 1957, this is a modern reprint by Old Chapel Lane Books, Burgh le Marsh, Lincolnshire. A5 size stapled, 125 pages, 9 illustrations. This reprint includes a short biography of Mrs Baker by her daughter which was not in the original but has been provided by the family. Mrs Baker lived in Nettleham until her death in 1967 at the age of 88. She spent much time in the newly opened Lincolnshire Archives researching the history of the Village which is well documented, as the manor was part of the possessions of the Bishops of Lincoln and so its records were part of the diocesan records. The chapters record each era or century starting with the Roman occupation through to the 20th century. Anyone tracing their family in Nettleham would find it useful, as it records the manorial rent rolls and the occupiers of the various cottages and farms and the records of the manorial court. I hope this reprint will bring this book to the attention of local history enthusiasts, as it has been long out of print.
