The eight color plates were reproduced in stencil by Esther Gentle, New York." "The 40 works in the portfolio, selected by Soby to represent the development of Klee’s print oeuvre, were made between 1903 and 1931, spanning the artist’s entire printmaking career. While many of the prints in the selection are well known and celebrated examples of Klee’s work, more than a third of the prints are very rare, with only a few known examples."
