Initially, the battalion was formed as part of the Separate Presidential Brigade, but in April 2022 it was separated into an independent formation under the direct subordination of the commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine.The name of the battalion is associated with the Citroen Berlingo cars that were given to the battalion's fighters (then a company) by volunteers. Therefore, the command initially jokingly nicknamed this formation "Berlingo", and later the name was officially established. Until August 2024, the formation was officially called the "210th Separate Special Battalion Berlingo", after which the "210th Separate Assault Regiment Berlingo" was formed on its basis, and the name "Berlingo" began to be abandoned in official documentation. There is a hard Velcro on the back of patches (chevrons). This will help to fix the chevron on a military uniform, other clothes, a backpack, a baseball cap and other tactical products, where there is a place for such an accessory (soft Velcro). Thanks to it, if necessary, the patch (chevron) can be easily removed and moved to a new place.
