Description: This US Model 1850 Field Grade Officers Sword belonged to a friend of mine. Name is inscribed on sword. This particular reproduction US Model 1850 Field Grade Officers Sword is very well made (see photos). It measures 39.75 inches overall in the scabbard, has a 30.75 inch blade and weighs over 4 pounds. The single edged blade is clean/bright, is etched with a patriotic motif to both sides and is straight with no nicks (see photos). The blade remains unsharpened and is 1.25 inches wide. The brass hilt remains bright and the guard has a cut out "US". The black leather grip is wrapped with wire. The blued steel scabbard with brass fittings is excellent overall with no dings/dents or bluing loss. This US Model 1850 Field Grade Officers Sword is a quality reproduction and makes an excellent presentation. Great opportunity for the re-enactor or to complete a display without spending thousands.
