US Submarine Service STEALTH Emb. Patch 4X2 Navy Dolphins Jacket Vest Iron/Sew

Description: US Submarine Service 'Stealth' Embroidered Patch 4" x 2" This is a new, 4" wide X 2" high (approx.) embroidered patch. This is a tremendous looking patch featuring "U.S. SUBMARINE SERVICE " in Gold thread on a black background and the Enlisted (Silver) Submarine Dolphins in silver/gray and black. We refer to this as our "Stealth Submarine Patch" due to the submarine being colored black. Just a bit of something different. This type of patch is usually affixed to a jacket, vest or hat. This patch has a heat activated adhesive on the back. It can be ironed on, sewn on, or both. We recommend using heat and sewing it on for the best long term adhesion. We have professional heat presses at our business which work just fine for applying these type of patches. However, most people will only have a home iron available for use. This is why we recommend ironing it on, then also sewing it.If affixing this to a leather item such as a Jacket or Vest, the Manufacturer strongly recommends sewing it on, vice only pressing it on.Here is some additional info from the Manufacturer; How to Apply Patches to Clothing - Iron on vs. Sew on Almost all the patches we sell can be sewn on or ironed on. The iron on patches have a layer of plastic backing with a thin layer of heat activated glue rubbed on it. Do not remove the plastic backing from the patches even if you are sewing them on. They help keep the embroidery together. Embroidered patches can be applied to clothing either by sewing it around the edges or by heat pressing it on with a commercial heat press. Household irons tend to do the trick in most cases with small patches Some fabrics such as leather (including suede) will scorch from the applied heat of the iron. You must sew patches onto leather, do not iron on patches to leather or nylon material clothing. Almost all our patches have die cut borders and can easily be sewn on.Sewing on Patches We recommend sewing on patches rather than using a household iron. Please keep in mind both heat and pressure is needed to properly adhere an iron on patch. A commercial heat press will permanently iron on a patch while using a household iron will not produce professional results. Use a thick enough needle and nylon thread to sew on a patch If you are using a sewing machine, make sure the arm has enough of an opening to pass your garment through as you will be rotating your garment all the way around on the sewing table. In order to avoid the patch from moving about while sewing it on you can use double sided tape or 3M spray on glue. What also works is using your household iron to temporarily adhere the patch prior to sewing. Let the patch completely cool prior to beginning the sewing process. Gently spray some glue on the back of the patch, place it over how you want it. Apply a little pressure and let stand for a minute to adhere before attempting to sew it on. Sew around the circumference of the entire patch (quarter inch wide stitches). Be sure to sew past and beyond the point you started before cutting off the remainder thread.Other great military themed apparel is available in our Ebay store, including leather and flight style jackets, hoodies, t-shirts, hats, etc. Just click on this link - http://stores.ebay.com/FootlooseUSA We also carry other military and motorcycle themed patches in our Ebay store.
