Matchbox die-cast metal toys were Made in England by Lesney, whose name was a combination of the two founders of the 1947 company: Leslie and Rodney Smith. After Lesney’s 1982 bankruptcy, the trademark name of Matchbox was purchased and production was moved to Asia.
